Hexcel is curbing airplane emissions with carbon fiber
Many of the solutions to battle climate change, we’ll find right in front of us. But for some reason we don’t use them. One the areas that Nordea Asset Management regard as a key area is energy optimization. Sasja Beslik, Head of Sustainable, has visited an American company called Hexcel. Hexcel is one of the companies that are part of the growing aviation industry, producing the carbon fiber that is decreasing the weight of the airplanes.
- There is room for innovations by companies to develop products that do the same thing that other products do – but in a more environmentally friendly way. I believe that businesses will buy these environmentally friendly products, says Michael Cenario, Vice President & General Manager Americas at Hexcel Corp.
- I think there is a business opportunity here that you could be missing. I think that the early movers in this area are going to be very powerful companies, he adds.
Weight reduced airplanes made partially of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is a part of the solution. It is energy efficient and CO2 efficient. And from an investment point of view it is also very interesting giving the increase in airplane production all over the world.
