We are one of 14 founding members of a US-based Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Investor Advisory Group that will support improving the quality and comparability of sustainability reporting to investors.
SASB created the investor advisory group because they believe that “investors can play an important role in enhancing disclosure effectiveness by expecting companies to disclose performance on material ESG factors and by participating in the development of disclosure standards.”
The advisory group comprises 14 large asset owners and asset managers including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
A clear recognition
Eivind Lorgen, CEO of Nordea Investment Management North America, will represent Nordea Asset Management in the advisory group.
- I believe that this is a clear recognition and acknowledgement of our dedication, achievements and position within the responsible investment area. We are very proud to be the only asset manager based in Europe to be invited to be part of this advisory group, said Eivind Lorgen.
The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board has been working on creating standards for environmental, social and governance related disclosures since 2011. The standards are industry-based and intended for companies traded on U.S. exchanges.
The San Francisco-based organisation is chaired by former New York mayor and Bloomberg LP founder Michael Bloomberg. Vice chairman is former SEC chairman Mary Shapiro. Read the SASB's press release here.
